A look back at the shows that have made our club what it is today.

Clue: On Stage (Fall 2019)

A dark and stormy night, an unusual dinner party and a killer on the loose — the elements of a thrilling mystery combine in this madcap comedy based on the popular Hasbro board game and adapted from the cult classic film. Set in the 1950s, “Clue: On Stage” features six guests — Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum and Mr. Green — who join a butler and maid at the mansion of the mysterious Mr. Boddy. Chaos ensues as the host ends up dead and the guests scramble to reveal the killer’s identity.

The Music Man (Spring 2019)

Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” follows traveling salesman Harold Hill as he arrives in River City, Iowa, intending to form a boys’ marching band — and then skip town with the money. His scheme goes awry when he falls for Marian Paroo, a librarian who may just turn this charming con man into a respectable citizen. With its toe-tapping tunes, uplifting story and engaging characters, the beloved musical has been a family favorite since 1957.

Our Town (Fall 2018)

Published in 1938 by acclaimed playwright Thornton Wilder, “Our Town” tells the story of life, love and loss in the fictional small town of Grover’s Corners. The three-act play introduces audiences to the Gibbs and Webb families and takes them on a journey exploring the families’ inter-relationships. Presented as a “play within a play,” the Stage Manager directly addresses the audience and guides it through the townspeople’s ordinary, yet meaningful, lives.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Spring 2018)

Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be "Out There," observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.

Sherlock Holmes (Fall 2017)

Sherlock Holmes is a highly entertaining adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s and William Gillette’s famed detective story, combining mystery, romance, action, danger, and laughter. Alice Faulkner has letters written by a dead girl in her possession that will cause grave international problems. Professor Moriarty wants those letters; so does Holmes. The game’s afoot! But not before the Professor’s gang has London in its grip. Only young Holmes understands the true objective Moriarty has in mind (too sinister to reveal here), and he’s willing to put his own life on the line to stop it.

Oklahoma! (Spring 2017)

This 1943 classic was the first-ever musical written by the iconic duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and features memorable songs such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “The Farmer and the Cowman,” and “All Er Nuthin’”. The story is centered on the stubborn cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. Other memorable characters include the wisecracking Aunt Eller, the persistent cowboy Will Parker, the ditzy and flirtatious Ado Annie, the clever Persian peddler Ali Hakim, and the intimidating farmhand Jud Fry.
